What are MRDD Services?
Cayuga Home for Children strives to provide the highest quality services to Mentally Retarded/Developmentally Disabled individuals of all ages and their families. Through our commitment to serving individuals "in our home or yours," we provide personalized services with an emphasis on goals and choices. We help all of our consumers to design plans according to their individual needs, desires, and goals, and help them to create steps to reach those goals. With an incredibly dedicated and enthusiastic staff, as well as a close partnership with those we serve, Cayuga Home for Children is committed to excellence. We focus on the success of our consumers, and build strong relationships based on each individual's needs and strengths. Our Services With the intention of helping our consumers to achieve their individual goals, however large or small, we offer Day Habilitation, At-Home Residential Habilitation, and Weekend Respite services. These services help individuals and families by teaching important living skills, providing recreation and other enjoyable activities, integrating individuals into the larger community (if desired), and providing much-needed respite for caregivers. In addition, we know that caring for people with developmental disabilities can be financially challenging. For this reason, our services are free for those who qualify. We also provide individualized assistance in the areas of Medicaid Service Coordination and Family Reimbursement. As with all of our programs, Cayuga Home for Children strives to provide personalized, partnership-based services to help our consumers attain the highest level of enrichment and success possible. Day Habilitation: We provide two programs (School-Age and Twenty-Plus) to assist both children and adults with developmental disabilities. We offer an array of social and recreational activities, as well as assistance with personal care and other areas of need. Our ultimate goal is to assist individuals in reaching a higher level of independence in all areas of life. We focus our individualized program plans around four concepts: Individualization, Independence, Integration, and Productivity. Weekend Respite Program: Allows families/caregivers of at-home developmentally disabled individuals to have a much-needed break, while simultaneously providing recreation and other enjoyable activities for the individual. Activities provided by our fully-trained staff include, but are not limited to, visits to local fairs, museums, festivals, movies, theme parks, the zoo, shopping, roller skating, and picnicking. At-Home Residential Habilitation: Provides at-home assistance to individuals, with the goal of helping them to become increasingly independent and able to live in the least restrictive environment possible. Medicaid Service Coordination: This program is intended to assist individuals and their families in making decisions and securing services which will help them achieve their goals. A Service Coordinator will accompany the individuals to school meetings, medical appointments, program sites, and/or work sites to ensure that their needs and goals are being met. He or she will advocate for changes and new services, if necessary, and will monitor all secured services to ensure quality and enjoyment. Family Reimbursement Program: This program complements other programs in which an individual may be enrolled, and provides financial assistance/reimbursement for goods and services that will benefit the individual with the developmental disability and increase that person's quality of life. |
